I promise to work to end our military presence in Iraq and to focus on setting budget priorities and policy solutions that will result in real security for our nation.
When this country goes to war, it is the responsibility of your elected officials to ask the tough questions and to exercise proper oversight. I promise I will take the responsibility of sending our troops to war seriously, ask every possible question and withhold my support until I am satisfied with the answers I receive. I will not ever be a rubber stamp for policies that risk the lives of our military men and women without a compelling cause.
I promise to work to restore the United States' position in the world as a leader in the community of nations, seeking peace and cooperation, not preemptive war.
