Center for Community Change Celebrates History of Building Social Movements and Championing Issues for Low Income Communities
On May 5, 2008, Donna Edwards and other grassroots leaders, elected officials and national organized labor leaders who have fought for progressive ideals in our country will be honored at The Center for Community Change's 40th Anniversary Gala "Building the Power of Many - for 40 Years". At this spectacular event, grassroots, political, philanthropic, organized labor and media communities will come together four decades after the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy, to celebrate this national social justice nonprofit founded as a living memorial to his life and ideas.
Donna Edwards is among the honorees who will be presented with a Community Change Champion Award for her work that led to the passage of the Violence Against Women Act of 1994 and for her outstanding contributions to the movement for social and economic justice in America. Some of the other honorees include Senators Paul Sarbanes and Dick Durbin, Arlene Holt Baker, and Gerald Hudson. Click here for an entire listing.
