In Third Debate, Edwards Points to History of Vision and Accomplishment as Community Leader

Donna Edwards proved why she has the necessary combination of vision, leadership, and understanding of the issues to be the next representative of Maryland’s 4th Congressional District.  During this third debate, hosted by the Prince George’s County Young Democrats and the Greater Marlboro Democratic Club, Edwards discussed her vision and accomplishments, citing examples such as her involvement in the National Harbor Project and the passage of the Violence Against Women Act of 1994.

"So I stood my ground on National Harbor, sued the developers, won in court and got them to settle,” said Edwards.  “We turned what could’ve been a walled-off fortress into an exciting part of our community. All it took was the guts and judgment to stand up and say ‘guys, we’re going to get this right from the start.’  And getting it right the first time is what we need to start doing in Washington.”

Edwards discussed when it comes to such issues as the War in Iraq, the Republican Bankruptcy Bill, Bush’s Energy Bill, and Bush’s No Child Left Behind bill, that we need representatives in Washington who get it right the first time.
