Donna Edwards Receives 2007 Conservationist of the Year Award from The Maryland Chapter of Sierra Club
Temple Hills, MD – Donna Edwards was honored for her years of commitment and service to the environment with the 2007 Conservationist of the Year Award from The Maryland Chapter of Sierra Club. Bonnie Bick and former board chair Betsy Johnson, on behalf of the Maryland Chapter and its chair, Mike Martin, presented the award to Ms. Edwards at the Sierra Club Jamboree held at the Catoctin Mountain National Park.
“It’s an honor and a privilege to receive this award from the Maryland Chapter of Sierra Club,” said Ms. Edwards. “I have worked with many of these dedicated individuals on various environmental issues and I am proud to receive this recognition from my peers. I look forward to many more years of working together on the local and national level to promote environmental conservation and to address global warming.”
“Donna Edwards is a true environmental leader,” said Mike Martin, Chair of the Maryland Chapter of Sierra Club. “She has consistently provided the vision and the hard work needed on behalf of environmental issues locally and nationally for many, many years.”
“I was so proud to be able to present this award to a long-time environmentalist,” said Bonnie Bick. “Her hard work to make National Harbor more environmentally friendly and an all around better development for the community is a testament to her dedication. National Harbor is now an excellent example of a win-win situation for the environment, the community, and business development.”
